Pokémon TCG: What's In Store For The Rest Of 2022?

2022

So far it’s been another exciting year for the Pokémon Trading Card Game (TCG). Over the last few months, we’ve seen Brilliant Stars and Astral Radiance booster packs, as well as a bunch of new bundles, elite trainer boxes, blister packs and tins.

The recent Pokémon GO expansion has also been a huge success. But what’s in store for the remainder of 2022?

Pokémon McDonalds 2022

A recent Happy Meal buyer spotted the teaser on their Happy Meal box.

On 29th June, Nintendo Life announced that an anonymous McDonald's reporter shared a new close-up image of a Pokémon Happy Meal. It’s said that the promotion will start on 3rd August 2022 – although there’s currently no word on what will be included in the box.

We can only hope that this promotion will include a new set of one-of-a-kind trading cards. If it does, we’ll be sure to add them to our collections database!

Our collections database includes Mcdonalds Pokémon cards from 2011, 2012, 2014, 2016, 2019, and 2021! Do you have any of these in your collection?

Pokémon Scarlet & Violet Cards

It’s official! The highly anticipated Pokémon Scarlet and Pokémon Violet games will launch for the Nintendo Switch on 18th November 2022. That’s right, generation 9 is almost here, which has us wondering when the Pokémon Scarlet and Violet TCG series will hit the shelves. Let’s take a trip back in time to the release of Generation 8 to determine when we’re likely to see these new cards.

Pokémon Sword and Shield launched for the Nintendo Switch on 5th November 2019. The expansion hit shelves in Japanese just one month later, on 6th December 2019. The English expansion eventually reached the rest of the world on 7th February 2020.

Based on Gen 8's launch cycle, the English Scarlet and Violet TCG set could be released in mid-February 2023. We’d love to know your thoughts.

Sprigatito, Fuecoco, or Quaxly – who will you choose?
